Information to Taxpayers

Billing

All property owners shall be billed semi-annually. Due dates are 7/1 and 12/1. The first issue bill covers April 1st thru September 30th and the second bill covers October 1st thru March 31st. Payments are due by the due date on bill. If you are not the present owner of the property, please forward the bill to the current owner. Taxpayers desiring any information in regard to property assessments or correction of errors must address all inquiries to the Board of Selectmen and NOT the Tax Collector. If this bill is paid by check or money order, it is not considered paid until the check or money order is cleared by the bank. There is a $38.00 fee for any returned checks.

Interest

Any bill not paid by the due date is considered delinquent. Even bills that have been lost in the mail and never received due to transfer of ownership or address change. Interest is calculated at 8% APR on any delinquent bill.

Exemptions

If you are elderly, a veteran or a veteran’s spouse, or are unable to pay taxes due to poverty or other good cause, you may be eligible for a tax exemption, abatement or deferral. For details and application information contact the Board of Selectmen at 603-679-5441 ext. 20. Veterans Credits for exemptions are reflected on the first and second issue bill.
